Principal's Welcome

On behalf of the staff, pupils, parents and governors, I am delighted to welcome you to our new website.

Westcliff Primary Academy is a popular and successful school, and it is my privilege to lead a strong team of teachers and support staff who are dedicated to ensuring that every child feels happy, safe and secure, loves learning and achieves their best. Our aim is to be “the best we can be.” We are members of the Fylde Coast Teaching School Alliance, and part of the Fylde Coast Academy Trust.

I am determined to ensure that Westcliff regains its “Outstanding” status from Ofsted. Since becoming Principal, in January 2017, I have begun the tasks of both modernising the premises - so that our pupils can learn in the very best surroundings, and transforming the curriculum - to ensure that our pupils are inspired to succeed through exciting learning opportunities.

In January 2018, our new, state of the art Canopy was completed outside our Early Years classrooms. This means that our pupils can now enjoy learning outside whatever the weather.

This term, we have opened with a bright, spacious entrance which is welcoming and inviting, as well as secure and safe for our pupils. In addition, a security barrier has been installed, ensuring pedestrian safety. Our pupils are thrilled with their new library, which is vibrant and stimulating for our young readers. Having moved the admin office, we have been able to create a music room, in which our instruments can be stored, and lessons delivered. Finally, the infant classrooms have benefited from new suspended ceilings and an amazing new mural in the corridor, filled with their favourite story characters.

During the last year, the teachers have developed even more creative approaches to teaching, completely re-designing the curriculum. Topics have become much more inspiring, enhanced by visitors to school and exciting trips. As we are a “Beach School”, all classes will be visiting the beach this term for lessons inspired by the “Sea Swallow” story. We have introduced “WOW time” (World of Westcliff) where pupils work practically on history, geography and science skills, reinforcing memory and retention skills. We have placed a much greater focus upon reading, and our Key Stage 2 results this year have already reflected this with improved attainment.

Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. Good communication between home and school, personal contact with staff will build mutual trust and understanding to develop our shared responsibility to each child. The weekly newsletter, uploaded onto this website each Friday, and regular Class Dojo updates from teachers ensure that parents are always kept up to date with the daily life of our academy. We look forward to long and happy partnerships with parents to ensure that every child leaves school having had a wonderful, happy childhood and is well prepared for the next stage in their education.

I hope that you find this website useful – if you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the school office to arrange a visit.
